SCRIPT BIDDING PROCESS:
168 will post the top 8 scripts from the Write of Passage Screenwriting Competition on
Wednesday, January 13th on the 168 Project website. Producers will have 7 days to apply and read the scripts and, if they are invited to bid, they will have 6 days to decide which scripts they will want to bid on
Points are used to communicate intent and desire of the producer to make a certain script. Example: Team A bids 80 points on the script "Charismatica" and 20 points on "The Caves of Nimrod." Team B bids 100 points on "Caves." Team C Bids 100 points on "Charismatica." Team D bids 50 points on "Charismatica" and 50 points on "Caves." If all things are equal, Team B would get "Caves," because they want to do it the most. Team A would lack sufficient enthusiasm to do "Caves." Team C would be awarded "Charismatica." Team D would be assumed to have equal enthusiasm for both scripts. If a producer liked 3 scripts equally well, they might bid 33 1/3 points on the first two and round it out with 33 1/3 points bid on "Shadrach, Meshack and the Winnebago."
Wednesday, January 27th producers will email bids to writeofpassage@168project.com.
Screenplays will be awarded based on producer application and bid values. The 168 Staff will manage this process to attempt to ensure a successful production. No producers are guaranteed of getting a script awarded to them to produce.
Producers awarded with a Write of Passage script are contacted Thursday, January 28th. Once the producer is "greenlit," production can start immediately. Finished films are turned in for the same deadline as the 168 Signature Films.
